7530.03 - STUDENT USE OF COMPUTER EQUIPMENT

Students must safeguard any Board-owned computer equipment in their possession. Reasonable precautions should be made to prevent equipment loss, damage, theft and vandalism, including but not limited to use of security measures. The Board authorizes a deductible fee for replacement and/or repair of Board-owned computers and computer parts or equipment not covered under warranty and necessitated by recklessness or abuse of such equipment while under the student's custody or care. The Superintendent shall develop administrative guidelines regarding such deductible.

Upon expulsion, withdrawal or separation from Winton Woods City Schools, the student shall return the equipment to the appropriate School Building Media Center. At any time upon request, the student may be asked to produce the equipment for return or inspection. Students unable to present the equipment in good working condition within the time period requested might be expected to bear the cost of a replacement. Students who separate from Winton Woods City Schools with outstanding debts for equipment loss or damage will be considered to have left on unsatisfactory terms and may be subject to legal action for recovery of the loss.

The Board reserves the right to audit all Board-owned computer equipment and their use. Violation of this policy may constitute just cause for disciplinary action.
