2330.01 - PUNITIVE WRITING ASSESSMENTS
All assignments, including writing and homework, should serve a valid learning purpose and should never be used as academic or behavioral punitive measures. Therefore, no teacher at any grade level or in any curricular area shall assign work of any type as a punishment to an individual student or to a group of students.
Assignments which remediate unacceptable academic skill levels will not be considered as punishment if they are derived from valid learning theory, based on sound educational objectives, and approved by the building principal.
