2261.01 - PARENT PARTICIPATION IN TITLE I PROGRAMS
The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 has placed renewed emphasis on parental involvement requirements for school district that utilize Title I funds.
The purpose of the Title I program is to help students reach their fullest potential by:
A. | providing a success-oriented environment | ||
B. | responding to different learning styles | ||
C. | meeting student's assessed individual needs | ||
D. | focusing on relevant skills |
Parent involvement is a very important component of the Title I program and in student success. To promote active parental involvement, Title I program will:
A. | notify parents in writing that their student attends a school wide or targeted Title I school; | ||
B. | provide opportunities for parent involvement in a number of activities, such as family math and reading nights, open houses, etc., which may be done collaboratively with other school activities; | ||
C. | provide parents with newsletter on a regular basis, which has ideas to strengthen learning at home and encourage home/school communication; | ||
D. | work with parents and their children through a School-Parent Contract to develop a partnership that will help lead to a child's success in school; | ||
E. | hold parent teacher conferences to discuss individual student progress and review the School-Parent Contract; | ||
These conferences will be held in conjunction with the District parent teacher conferences with the cooperation of the classroom teachers. | |||
F. | parents will be asked to complete an end-of-year survey to help in reviewing and planning for school improvement. |
