9120 - PUBLIC INFORMATION PROGRAM

The Board of Education believes that all reasonable means should be employed to keep the public informed on matters of importance regarding District policies, finances, programs, personnel and operations. It is the purpose of this policy to provide the ways and means to accomplish this purpose.

Public education can be assisted by the establishment of public relations and school communications programs based on the following principles:

 A.A public relations program should be a planned, systematic, two-way process of communication between the School District and the public.

 B.A public relations program should be many-faceted and should include a variety of media to effectively communicate with citizens of the District.

 C.Public relations and communication, to be effective, must be a planned program with involvement, feedback, and opportunities.

 D.Communications must be internal as well as external and must stress the dissemination of factual, objective, and realistic data about the District.

 E.Public relations and communication must be dynamic and sensitive to change as determined by events and evaluation of the program.
