7230 - GIFTS, GRANTS, DONATIONS

Gifts, grants, or bequests will be accepted by the Board of Education, provided the conditions of acceptance do not remove any portion of the control of the School District from the Board.

Any person or organization desiring to give a gift, make a grant or a bequest to the Board should contact the Superintendent of Schools who will submit the request to the Board.

Propositions giving funds, equipment, or materials to the School with a "matching" agreement or restriction are generally not acceptable. Acceptance of donated equipment or materials may depend upon the compliance with or experience related to the Board's policy of standardizing materials and equipment in the District.

Whenever the School District has an established project, contributions that would reduce the cost or would hasten the completion will be welcome.

Any gift accepted by the Board shall become the property of the Board, may not be returned without the approval of the Board and is subject to the same controls and regulations as are other properties of the Board.

The Board shall be responsible for the maintenance of any gift it accepts subject to any conditions or stipulations connected with the gift.

The Board will make every effort to honor the intent of the donor in its use of the gift, but reserves the right to utilize any gift it accepts in the best interest of the educational program of the District. In no case shall acceptance of a gift be considered to be an endorsement by the Board of a commercial product or business enterprise or institution of learning.
