3412 - HORIZONTAL MOVEMENT ON SALARY SCHEDULE

The Governing Board encourages all staff members to improve their skills through advanced training and, as an inducement thereof, provides extra compensation for those who do so successfully.

The Governing Board reserves the right to approve a change in salary for an employee who successfully meets District guidelines for advanced studies.

The Governing Board delegates to the Superintendent and Treasurer, the responsibility for assuring that staff members comply with the following regulations when claiming credit for advanced studies:

 A.Courses shall have been given at a state accredited teaching institution.

 B.Transcripts verifying course work and completion date shall be submitted.

 C.A change in the salary schedule will be made at the next Regular Board Meeting following receipt of Official Transcripts, with the effective date being the first full pay period following the date of completed course work or Confirmation of Degree as indicated on the Official Transcript.

 D.Responsibility of claims for credit of advanced studies which would result in movement on the salary schedule, rests with the employee and must be made within the school year earned. Claims shall not be retroactive beyond that time period.
