3340 - GRIEVANCE
The Board and the Administration acknowledge that it is most desirable for a staff member and the Administration to resolve problems through free and informal communications. However, should such informal processes fail to resolve the grievance then the grievance may be processed according to the following formal procedures.
| A. | STEP I | ||
| No later than ten (10) days after the grievant knew or could have reasonably been expected to have known about the occurrence of the alleged violation giving rise to the grievance, the grievant may, submit to the proper immediate administrator who has the authority to bring about a resolution of the alleged problem, a completed and signed STEP I grievance form. Said administrator will acknowledge receipt of the grievance form by initialing one (1) copy of such completed form. A copy of the completed form shall then be given to the grievant. Within five (5) working days of receipt of the grievance form, the administrator shall indicate his/her disposition of the grievance in writing and forward a copy thereof to the grievant. | |||
| B. | STEP II | ||
| If the grievant is not satisfied with the disposition of the grievance at STEP I, the grievant may initiate STEP II by completing a written Grievance Report Form STEP II and submitting it to the Superintendent within five (5) working days of the receipt of the receipt of the completed said STEP II form, the Superintendent or his/her designated representative may meet with the grievant for the purpose of resolving the grievance. Within five (5) working days of receipt of written grievance, the Superintendent shall indicate his/her disposition of the grievance in writing, and forward a copy thereof to the grievant, and Administrator(s) involved. | |||
| C. | STEP III | ||
| If the grievant is not satisfied with the disposition made by the Superintendent, the grievant may initiate STEP III by completing a proper Grievance Report Form and submitting it to the Board by filling a copy with the Treasurer of the Board and the Superintendent within five (5) days of receipt of the STEP II response. At the next regularly scheduled Board meeting, the Board shall meet with the grievant, and the Superintendent or his/her designee, to review the grievance and attempt to resolve same. Within seven (7) days of such meeting, the Board shall reduce its disposition of the grievance to writing and forward a copy thereof to the grievant, and the Superintendent. |
Timelines in any step may be extended by written mutual consent of both grievant and the Superintendent or his/her designee.
