2520 - SELECTION OF INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT
The Board of Education shall provide instructional materials and equipment, within budgetary constraints, to implement the District's educational goals and objectives and to meet students needs. The primary objective of such instructional materials and equipment shall be to enrich, support and implement the educational program of the school.
The Superintendent shall develop procedures for the selection and maintenance of all educational and instructional equipment. These procedures shall include the participation of appropriate administrative and instructional staff.
Criteria for Equipment
The evaluation and selection criteria for instructional equipment may include:
| A. | relevance to the school curriculum; | ||
| B. | needs of individual students. |
General Criteria for the selection of materials:
| A. | Materials shall be suited to the varied interests, abilities, reading levels, and maturation levels of the students to be served. | ||
| B. | Wherever possible, materials shall provide major opposing views on controversial issues so that students may develop, under guidance, the practice of critical thinking. | ||
| C. | Wherever possible, materials shall represent the major religious, ethnic, and cultural groups and their contribution to American heritage. |
