2250 - EXPERIMENTAL PROGRAMS

The Board of Education recognizes that it is essential to continually develop and modify the school curriculum to meet the changing needs and diversity of our students and community.

Experimental and/or research programs are a vital link to the improvement of the school curriculum. Teachers and administrators are encouraged to initiate discussion and participate in the possible development of experimental and/or research programs designed to provide data for curriculum improvement.

When proposals for experimental and/or research programs are being developed, it is essential that the persons recommending the program understand that change in one segment of the curriculum impacts the entire curriculum. Because of this, it is necessary that experimental and/or research curriculum proposals be submitted for approval before implementation occurs.

Before any experimental and/or research proposal will be approved, the following steps must be taken:

A.Develop a written one year plan for the experiment which includes objectives, procedures and techniques for evaluation.

B.Submit the plan to the director of curriculum for approval.

C.Submit the plan to the Ohio Department of Education for approval.

D.At the termination of the experimental program, a written evaluation and recommendation will be filed with the director of curriculum.

The data obtained from the experimental programs will be reviewed for possible inclusion into the curriculum.
