The Board of Education, upon recommendation of its Superintendent, may employ, pursuant to applicable law, an individual to direct, supervise, or coach a student activity program provided such individual meets the following qualifications, whether or not s/he is certified.
The individual is competent to direct, supervise, or coach a student activity program as evidenced by:
| | A. | the ability to work effectively with students as documented by recent experience deemed to be successful as determined by the Board. |

| | B. | knowledge of the activity program as documented by: |
|
| | | 1. | successful completion of a college or university course on direction, supervision, or coaching of such activity program, and/or |
|
| | | 2. | successful experience as determined by the Board in such activity program. |
|
| | C. | knowledge of applicable administrative guidelines established by the Board. |
|
| | D. | knowledge of the health and safety related aspects of the activity program. For a student activity program which involves vigorous physical activity or contact, the individual: |
|
| | | 1. | shall have demonstrated successful completion of: |
|
| | | | a. | an appropriate sports-related first aid training course and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training conducted pursuant to guidelines and methodology set forth by the "Ohio State Medical Association - Ohio High School Athletic Association Joint Committee on the Medical Aspects of Sports" and approved by the Superintendent of Public Instruction. |

| | | | b. | a college or university course on the health and safety of participants in the activity program. |
|
| | | 2. | shall be willing to complete 1a and 1b within the first year coaching. |
