9120A - PUBLIC RELATIONS OBJECTIVES

The purpose of the ISD-community relations program is to establish and maintain in the public mind respect for and support of the educational services being provided to the constituent local districts and the community at large.

To this end, parents and other District residents are to be kept informed regarding short and long term plans and the progress being made toward accomplishment of the Board's goals for the District.

The Supervisor of Instructional Services shall be responsible for the District's public relations program which shall be designed to accomplish the following objectives:

 A.To explain in an understandable, noncondescending manner, the programs, achievements, and needs of the District to parents, constituent local districts, community leaders and officials, local business and industry, community organizations, special interest groups, the community as a whole, and/or State and Federal agencies.

 B.To obtain reliable, useful information regarding:

  1.what residents expect from the District;

  2.what residents think the District is accomplishing;

  3.what residents would like to know about the District;

  4.what residents would like the District to be doing differently.

 C.To anticipate potential problems caused by misunderstanding or lack of information and take measures to eliminate them before they happen.

Evaluation of Program

The public relations program shall be submitted to the Superintendent for review and approval and shall be subjected to continuous evaluation by the Supervisor of Instructional Services.
