6510A - SALARY CALCULATIONS FOR DEPARTING NEW EMPLOYEES
The following guidelines are provided to assist in standardizing calculations of days worked/to be worked in determining contract salaries for departing employees and new hires.
| A. | Personnel with contracts of a specific number of days, less than full year, will have earned/to be earned salaries prorated based upon the actual days worked/to be worked divided by contract length. Custodians, although on full year contracts, are considered to be on 260 day contracts. | ||
| B. | Personnel, except custodians, on full year contracts and who receive vacation days will have salaries prorated based upon calendar days of employment divided by 365. For clarification purposes, employment ending on a Friday will not include the following Saturday and Sunday. Also, employment beginning on a Monday will not include the preceding Saturday and Sunday. | ||
| C. | Personnel except custodians on full year contracts will have daily salaries computed based upon the average annual work days (assuming all holidays (10) and earned vacation days (20) are utilized during each year. Based upon this premise the devisor in determining daily salaries will be determined as follows: 260 average annual work days minus 20 vacation days minus 10 holidays equals a divisor of 230. This daily rate is primarily significant when reimbursing employees for unused vacation days upon termination. | ||
| D. | In no case will an employee be scheduled for more than 230 work days in a contract year without specific approval of the Board or Superintendent. Non-use of vacation days is not a factor in determining the annual scheduled work days. |
