3411 - CREDIT FOR TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE AT TIME OF EMPLOYMENT
Teachers shall initially be placed on the District teachers’ salary schedule with credit for training and experience as follows:
TRAINING CREDIT
Credit for horizontal placement shall be given in accordance with the Board’s collective bargaining agreement with the Upper Arlington Education Association.
EXPERIENCE CREDIT
In general, the type of previous experience for which vertical placement credit will be given shall include only that specified in R.C. 3317.13. However, if recommended by the Superintendent and approved by the Board, other types of previous experience can be credited for individual teachers.
When employed, a teacher may receive credit for up to and including ten (10) years’ previous experience. Active military service in the armed forces of the United States will receive credit not to exceed five (5) years of experience, which is included as part of the total maximum experience allowed. For this purpose, a partial year of active military service of eight (8) consecutive months or more will be counted as a full year. Full credit for minimum of five (5) years of actual teaching and military experience as defined in this policy will be given to any teacher who qualifies for such.
Credit for the number of years of experience will be given for each year in which the teacher was under a teacher’s contract for at least one hundred twenty (120) days.
Nothing in this Policy shall be construed to conflict with the Board’s collective bargaining agreement with the Upper Arlington Education Association.
