2340.01 - NON-SCHOOL SPONSORED TRIPS
The Board sponsors certain curricular and extra and co-curricular student trips. See Board Policy 2340A. Students also have the opportunity to go on trips which are not sponsored by the Board. The Board does not and cannot prohibit students from going on these non-school sponsored trips provided that the students meet the requirements of the Board attendance policies, specifically Policy 5200 and AG 5200 on planned absences. The Board, however, does regulate the circumstances under which students may be solicited on school premises to go on such trips.
Information about non-school sponsored trips may be provided to students consistent with the Board policy on the distribution of literature on school grounds (see Policy KEAB-R). School grounds may be used for meetings about such trips consistent with the Board policy on facilities use (see Policy 9700 and AG 9700A).
The Board does not assume any responsibility for these non-school sponsored trips, and cannot and does not warrant, guarantee or take any position with respect to the reliability of the sponsors, the quality of the trips, or the safety of the students who elect to go on these trips. Students who go on these trips do so at their own risk.
School employees involved in non-school sponsored trips may not use work time or school resources to solicit students for or to plan non-school sponsored trips. School employees are required to provide parents/guardians with the following disclaimer before taking Upper Arlington student(s) on non-school sponsored trip(s):
This Disclaimer is being provided to all participants of the trip to inform them of the following:
| A. | That the trip is not sponsored by or in any way affiliated with the Upper Arlington City Schools ("Schools"); | ||

| D. | That the Schools have made no attempt to evaluate the risks of personal injuries, property loss, or other risks inherent in the Trip; | ||
| E. | That it is the sole responsibility of the parents/guardians to evaluate carefully the risks inherent in the Trip; | ||
| F. | That the Schools assume no responsibility for the care, supervision or safety of the student during the Trip. |
