3413 - NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFICATION

Teachers who receive National Board Certification shall receive, annually, a stipend of $2,000.00 upon proof of completion and certification. This stipend will begin with the 2002-03 school year and remain in effect for ten (10) years following successful completion and the obtainment of the National Board Certification. For this stipend National Board Certified teachers will agree to participate in the Upper Arlington New Teacher Mentor Program. The scope and responsibilities of this participation will be determined by the needs of the Mentor Program. Each year, by the fifth contract day after January 1, teachers who have received National Board Certification must furnish the Personnel Office with proof of certification, and a separate statement indicating his/her willingness to participate in the New Teacher Mentor Program. National Board certified teachers must also indicate in this statement his/her agreement to be trained, the "Pathwise" model prior to working as a mentor in the program. No stipends will be paid until both evidence of certification and the aforementioned statement are received by the specified date.

Those teachers who are officially enrolled in the National Board Certification Program or in an Administrative Certification Program, approved by the Superintendent, shall be granted five (5) days of professional leave annually upon presentation of enrollment and satisfactory progress being made in the program. This provision will begin with the start of the 2002-03 school year.
