2440 - SUMMER ACADEMY
The Summer Academy is designed to extend learning, enrichment, exploratory and recreational opportunities for the District’s students and approved students from other school districts. The Board of Education expects the Superintendent to annually organize and implement the Summer Academy for elementary, middle, and high school students.
The following criteria will be used to set up the Summer Academy.

open to any approved resident of Upper Arlington or Franklin County |

based on unit of credit, hourly rate for course review and number of hours needed, and small group instruction at the elementary |

Director Selection |
- |
A director will be selected by the Superintendent |

Teacher selection |
- |
Upper Arlington staff will be given priority – consideration will be given to previous summer school experience and area of regular school year assignment |

all teachers must be fully certificated by the Ohio Department of Education to teach in selected curricular areas |

Exploratory and recreational teachers will not require Ohio Department of Education certification |

Cost Efficient |

Tuition and fees shall cover most expenditures as determined by the Treasurer |

Summer Academy dates will be shared with the Board by March for the coming summer |

Curriculum |

The Summer Academy curriculum will reflect the identified needs of students |

10. |
Grading and reporting |
- |
Student progress report or grade for Summer Academy achievement will be sent to the home and included in the cumulative record. Grades for advanced credit courses shall be recorded as taken in next school year. Grades for remedial seminars/courses shall be recorded as taken last school year. Certificates of attendance and accomplishment for exploratory or recreational activities may be provided. |
