2370 - EDUCATIONAL OPTIONS
On-line/correspondence courses are designed to provide appropriate course content to meet student needs and contribute to goals of grade promotion and/or credit for graduation. Additionally, a student may elect to take a course not offered in the curriculum.
The Superintendent may approve the course prior to student participation upon evidence that:
| A. | the parent has approved participation for any student under the age of eighteen (18); | ||
| B. | an instructional plan has been submitted prior to student participation. The instructional plan shall include: |
| 1. | instructional objectives that align with the District’s curriculum requirements; | |||
| 2. | an outline that specifies instructional activities, materials, and learning environments; | |||
| 3. | a description of criteria and methods for assessing student performance; |
| C. | involvement of a teacher by a governmental agency in reviewing the instructional plan and evaluating student performance in on-line/correspondence courses; | ||
| D. | the institution from which the correspondence credit is earned shall meet the standards of the North Central Association or comparable accrediting association. |
Credit for approved educational options shall be assigned according to student performance relative to stated objectives of the educational option and in accordance with local Board policy and established procedures. Credit will be documented on the student’s Upper Arlington transcript as a pass/fail grade.
