Administrative Guidelines
 

1415 - RETIREMENT SEVERANCE PAY FOR ADMINISTRATORS

Upon retirement, administrative personnel shall be entitled to receive remuneration for unused sick leave according to the following provisions:

 A.The amount to be paid retiring administrators shall be determined by multiplying the number of days’ credit by the daily rat eof pay.

 B.The daily rate of pay shall be the administrator’s annual salary at the time of retirement divided by the number of work days (days scheduled to be on duty) in the person’s regular contractual year.

The number of days credit shall be limited by the small of the following:

 A.one-fourth (1/4) of the number of accumulated days of unused sick leave, or

 B.seventy-six (76) days for administrators on a 260 day contract,

 C.seventy-three (73) days for administrators on a 250 day contract,

 D.sixty-nine (69) days for administrators on a 240 day contract.

Severance pay will be paid only to those administrators who are retiring from service by utilizing either regular or disability retirement provisions of the State Teachers Retirement System or such other Ohio public employee retirement system as may apply. Staff members who are on leaves of absence are not eligible for severance pay until their resignation has been accepted by the Board of Education and until they meet the requirements set forth above. Severance will be paid into the retiree’s account in the Upper Arlington School’s 403(B0 Accumulated Leave Plan, not to exceed the applicable 415 limits for the contribution year.
