5463 - STUDENT TRANSFER FROM NONACCREDITED SCHOOLS
The Board of Education believes that students transferring into the District should receive fair consideration with respect to the validation and acceptance of work completed prior to the transfer. Validation and acceptance of credits must be in accordance with the Operating Standards adopted by the State Board of Education.
Faculty members appointed by the principal are responsible for validating and accepting credits earned outside the District. Credits will be documented on the student’s Upper Arlington transcript as a pass/fail grade and will not apply in calculating grade point average and class rank.
For high school award purposes, the following conditions apply:
| A. | GPA will be established for awards, after two (2) consecutive semesters of attendance in Upper Arlington High School prior to the second semester of the student’s senior year. | ||
| B. | Eligibility for academic honors groups will be established only after two (2) consecutive semesters of enrollment. | ||
| C. | Students who attend an international school must attend at least five (5) semesters at Upper Arlington High School for grades, credits, and grade point averages earned in this District to apply toward any awards or distinctions. |
Students new to the District will be enrolled in lieu of a transcript; however, local testing may be used to establish competency and placement.
