3433.01 - ADMINISTRATOR/NONASSOCIATION EMPLOYEE VACATION

The Board of Education believes that it is beneficial to the District that personnel employed to work twelve (12) months per year be given periodic relief from the responsibilities of their job without loss of compensation. The Board reserves the right to specify the conditions under which vacation time may be taken.

 A.Eligibility
Each full time administrator/nonassociation employee of the District who is required to work twelve (12) months per year is entitled up to twenty (20) working days per year of vacation leave. Said leave shall be with full pay, excluding holidays established by the Board. Vacation shall be accrued up to 1.67 days per month.

 B.Application
A full-time employee may accumulate up to ten (10) days of unused vacation per year for carry over into future years. This limit, however, will not apply if the employee has given up more than ten (10) days of vacation in the year at the request of the Board and approved by the Superintendent. No more than forty (40) total days of unused vacation, however, may be accumulated by any administrator/nonassociation employee. Employees can be paid for up to ten (10) nonused vacation days each year.
Those eligible must apply to the Superintendent, in writing, on the prescribed form for vacation in advance of the desired starting date.

 C.Time of Vacation
All vacation days should be used during the calendar year in which they are earned. Appropriateness of a vacation request with regard to the school operation shall be a primary factor in approving or denying said request.
If vacation is scheduled over a period when a holiday occurs for which a 260 day employee is compensated without working, the employee shall not lose a vacation day for that holiday. If an employee severs employment with accumulated vacation, the employee shall be compensated at his/her per diem rate for the accumulated vacation, not to exceed thirty (30) days.
