7310B - FEDERAL SURPLUS PROPERTY
Persons authorized to acquisition Federal surplus property shall comply with the following use restrictions and responsibilities with regard to inventory on this equipment:
| A. | Major acquisitions of federal surplus property shall be cleared with the Superintendent prior to purchase. After purchase, the equipment shall be processed in the same manner as other capital outlay items and placed into inventory. | ||
| B. | Federal surplus property must be solely used for educational purposes. It is illegal to use this property for private or personal use. | ||
| C. | On all items with a federal unit cost of $3,000 or more, there is a federal requirement that it must be used by the recipient for a period of thirty (30) months. (These items are marked with a blue tag or require title.) | ||
| D. | All other items of property must be placed in use for the purposes for which acquired within one (1) year of receipt, and shall be continued in use for such purposes for one (1) year from the date the property was placed in use. | ||
| E. | In the event you have property for which you have no further use, and the restrictions are still in effect, you must contact the Lansing office for disposal instructions, so they can be properly removed from their records. |
