5540.01 - TECHNOLOGY AND NETWORK PROTECTION AND INTERNET SAFETY

The Board of Education is committed to the effective use of technology to enhance the quality of student learning and the efficiency of District operations. It also recognizes that safeguards have to be established to ensure that the District's investment in hardware and software achieves the benefits of technology and inhibits negative side effects. Use of such resources is a privilege, not a right.

The Superintendent is directed to establish administrative guidelines not only for proper acquisition of technology but also to ensure that staff and students are making appropriate and ethical use of the technology as well as any networks that may be established.

The Superintendent shall inform staff and students that disciplinary actions may be taken if District technology and/or networks are abused.
