Board Activities

The Tippecanoe School Corporation needs to understand the community desires in order to carry out its educational functions successfully. The Board cannot move forward towards new goals, nor can it modify practices dramatically supported by the community. Therefore, it is imperative that the community and the school system be united so that the schools adequately reflect the needs of the community.

Therefore, it is imperative that the Board maintains a continuing information program for compiling and distributing news of events, noteworthy facts, statistics, plans, and forecasts to ensure an interested and informed public.

The Board shall use public meetings to ascertain community support for new projects, plans, or assessment of school operations well in advance of proposing changes for the Corporation. Public hearings will be held when indicated by law.

Time will be allocated during each regular Board meeting for public input. Individual, group, or community concerns may also be presented to the Board through letter, petition, or personal contact.

In order for the Board to accomplish its stated purposes, patrons will be involved in studying and discussing about the quantity and quality of educational programming in the school system. Efforts will be undertaken to ensure the public is informed in all aspects of the education process through Parent-Teacher Conferences, printed brochures, news releases, person-to-person contact, and special studies.

Communications of the Board to the public will be honest, factual, and descriptive of the educational benefits and costs anticipated.

A newsletter shall be published by the Corporation semi-annually. This newsletter shall contain information and announcements concerning the operation of the Corporation. This service shall be provided at no cost to employees and patrons of the Corporation.
