4430 - LEAVES OF ABSENCE
Sick leave for nurses, full-time custodial, maintenance, secretarial and bookkeeping staff, and mechanics shall be accumulated at the rate of seven (7) days annually, up to a maximum of fifty (50) days.
Sick leave for full-day but less than full-time clerical and secretarial employees shall be accumulated at the rate of six (6) days per year up to a maximum of forty (40) days.
Part-time secretaries and aides shall receive sick leave in accordance with their full-time equivalence: e.g. one-half (.50) would receive five (5) half-days of sick leave.
Any classified employee absent for more than twenty (20) calendar days because of an extended or serious illness shall, prior to return to service, furnish the Superintendent a statement from a licensed physician indicating that the employee's health is satisfactory for a return to service with the Corporation.
Leaves of Absence
Any classified employee may request a leave of absence without pay for a valid reason. Such leaves shall be recommended by the Superintendent for a specified period of time. Requests for leaves must be made in writing at least thirty (30) days in advance, except in emergencies.
Jury Duty Leave
When subpoenaed, a classified employee shall receive leave of absence to serve on jury duty. The Board shall pay the employee the difference between jury pay and the normal daily wage.
Leave not to exceed five (5) consecutive or total workdays shall be granted to classified employees in the event of death of a member of the immediate family. Immediate family shall be defined as spouse, parents, children, grandchildren, brother, sister, grandparents, and corresponding "in-laws" and step-relatives. Family members not this included but residing in the employee's house shall be considered immediate family.
Bus Driver Leaves of Absence Without Pay
Leaves of absence without pay for bus drivers which do not exceed two (2) consecutive working days may be approved by the Director of Transportation.
Leaves of absence without pay for bus drivers which exceed two (2) consecutive working days must be approved the School Board.
General leave for items of a personal nature shall be granted as follows:
|A.||Full-time (twelve (12) month) and full-day/part-time employees shall receive one (1) day per year upon request. If not used, this day shall be added to accumulated sick leave.|
|B.||Part-time employees shall receive a pro-rated leave amount, but in no case shall this be less than one-half (1/2) day per year.|
