4122.01 - DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE
Quality education is not possible in an environment affected by drugs or alcohol. The School Board will seek, therefore, to establish and maintain an educational setting which is not tainted by the use or evidence of use of any controlled substance.
The Board shall not permit the manufacture, possession, use, distribution, or dispensing of any controlled substance, including alcohol, by any member of the Corporation's support staff at any time while on Corporation property or while involved in any Corporation-related activity or event. Any staff member who violates this policy shall be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with Corporation guidelines.
The Board also recognizes the special requirements for alcohol and controlled substance testing of employees and applicants for positions who must have a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) to operate school vehicles. The Director of Transportation is authorized to implement this policy and testing program.
The Superintendent shall establish administrative guidelines that will best ensure compliance with the intent of this policy and that will provide for appropriate disciplinary action.
Support staff members who suspect they may have an alcohol or other drug abuse problem are encouraged to seek counseling and information on a confidential basis by contacting resources available for such service in the community.
This policy applies to all support staff.
