2431.03 - EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES ELIGIBILITY
This policy will be in effect for all students in grades seven through twelve who are involved in extra-curricular activities from the first recognized day of the activity prior to the beginning of the school year to the end of the school year or last recognized day of an activity.
A student shall not possess, use, transmit alcohol and other drugs including but not limited to narcotics, hallucinogenic drugs, intoxicants, inhalants, and/or look-alike drugs.
1st Offense/Incident – A student found to be in violation of the Extra-Curricular Activities Eligibility policy, by the building administrator, would be removed from participation in the activity for the remainder of the school year.
* If the student obtains a drug/alcohol screening and follows any directions from the screening, s/he may return to participate after sitting out thirty percent (30%) of the season (weeks). While sitting out, the student may practice but cannot participate in a game or performance. A copy of the drug-alcohol screening and recommendations must be given to the building administrator as verification of the student’s actions.
2nd Offense/Incident – A student found to be in violation of the Extra-Curricular Activities Eligibility policy, by the building administrator, would be eliminated from any extra-curricular activity for the remainder of the school year.
* If the student enrolls in a school – approved drug/alcohol treatment program, the student may return to an activity after sitting out one entire season.
3rd Offense/Incident – A student found to be in violation of the Extra-Curricular Activities Eligibility policy, by a building administrator, will be eliminated from any extra-curricular activity the remainder of the student’s entire school career.
