In order to compensate substitute classified employees in a fair, equitable, and competitive manner, the Board of Education has determined that it is appropriate to set, by policy, this compensation as a fraction of the base wage rate for the classification in which the substitute employee is working.

That fraction is eighty-five percent (85%) of the base wage rate (Step 0) for a regular contract employee assigned to that classification. [For a classification with a base wage rate of $10.00 per hour, the substitute wage rate is $8.50 per hour.]

Whenever the Board adopts a resolution changing pay rates for regular contract employees, the Treasurer shall recalculate substitute wage rates to maintain compliance with this policy.
