7530 - LENDING OF BOARD-OWNED EQUIPMENT

The Board of Education believes that Board-owned equipment is a valuable resource that may be loaned under certain conditions only, provided that such use does not infringe on the original and necessary purpose of the equipment or interfere with the educational program.

Springfield – Clark Career Technology Center – owned equipment may be loaned for off campus use only at times when it is not being used for instructional purposes. A Request To Borrow Equipment form must be filled out completely in all circumstances. Loaning of equipment is limited to school employees only.

School equipment may be loaned for one (1) or more of the following purposes:

 A.to familiarize themselves with equipment used in the program;

 B.to improve proficiency skills;

 C.to develop further lessons;

 D.to complete an assignment; and/or

 E.other purposes at the discretion of the Superintendent.

Stipulations

 A.Equipment must be returned as soon as the employee has completed the purpose or when requested by the instructor.

 B.Equipment must be in "as loaned" condition when returned (except for normal wear and tear). Program instructor will determine condition when loaned and returned.

 C.The employee assumes all responsibility for the equipment while it is in his/her possession.

 D.Equipment will not be used for personal gain, profit making or employment or other activities outside of school responsibilities.

 E.The completed form must be filled out and placed on file with the supervisor before the equipment is taken. It is the instructor’s responsibility to immediately file the form with the supervisor.

 F.Approval must be obtained from the Superintendent for any equipment loan requests.

 G.The Superintendent will have the final discretion in determining whether equipment is loaned. (The instructor is directly responsible for all equipment presently carried on his/her inventory).

 H.Any liability arising from the use of equipment shall be with the user and in no way is to be borne by the school or the Springfield-Clark Career Technology Center Board of Education.

 I.The user is responsible for safety and safe use of the equipment while in his/her possession.

 J.In case of damage or theft while in the user’s possession, the borrower shall immediately make arrangements to reimburse the school the full cost of repair or replacement.

Equipment owned by the Board may contain personally identifiable information about District students and/or staff. Federal and State laws prohibiting disclosure of such personally identifiable information apply to electronic records stored on technology devices. Board employees are advised to exercise caution when transferring personally identifiable information onto disks, flash drives, and other technology devices. A Board employee who fails to safeguard or misuses student or staff personally identifiable information will be subject to disciplinary action.
