| | A. | Advisory Committees
| | | These committees consist of members selected for their knowledge of the latest technology in the field. The continuous application of this technology is essential to planning and operating instructional programs. Committee members are selected through the combined efforts of the administration and staff and are to serve a three (3) year term.
| | | To provide for continuity, a rotation plan exists that replaces one-third (1/3) of the membership each year.
| | | Types of Committees
| | | Two (2) main types of program advisory committees are organized, the general advisory committee and the program advisory committee.
| | | Career Technical Advisory Committees are organized to serve a group of like or similar programs that are located in a number of different schools in the District. For example, one Vocational Advisory Committee can adequately serve all Business Education programs.
| | | The only real difference between the two types of committees is the number of programs they represent, one or several.
| | | It is the responsibility of the supervisor to make the determination of the best type of advisory committee for the units involved, vocational or program.
| | | Members may be selected from: |

| | C. | Council/Committee Leadership
| | | The success of the committee will depend in large measure on the leadership provided by the chairperson who should be assertive yet sensitive to the views of other members.
| | | A good meeting is one which moves expeditiously through the agenda on a time allotment understood and supported by the council or the committee. The skilled chairperson will involve all members of the group, arrive at a vote of consensus on issues, and adjourn on time. The matters of a quorum and voting procedure should be established. |
Efficient communications and record keeping are essential to the success of the committee.
