South-Western City School District
Bylaws & Policies

When the South-Western City Board of Education determines that land should be acquired for school purposes, it will authorize the Superintendent to investigate the purchase of the property. S/He may get information about the property from a qualified appraiser and may also get advice about the purchase from an attorney. When an agreement is reached, the Superintendent will seek authorization from the Board to acquire the property at the agreed upon price.

If the Board is unable to reach an agreement with the property owners, appropriation proceedings will begin. The amount of compensation to be awarded to the owners of the land will be deposited with the clerk of the Court of Common Pleas when the action is filed.
