5530.01 - DRUGS, ALCOHOL AND TOBACCO EDUCATION
The South-Western City Board of Education supports a drug-free environment. The professional staff will continue to seek ways to educate students and school staff of the District about the dangers of the misuse and abuse of drugs, alcohol and tobacco. Instructional units will include sessions about the causes and effects of drug, alcohol and tobacco use and abuse, especially in young people.
In the interest of student and staff health, a climate will be created in the schools so that people with problems may seek and receive help.
Abstinence will be taught as the responsible choice for students.
