South-Western City School District
Bylaws & Policies

The basic attitude of those who work with youth must be that the individual is of central importance. The school, too, is important and must have regulations that advance the good of all persons involved as well as the school itself. To that end then, teachers and administrators must be guided by procedure designed to serve the individual, the group and the school. It is neither feasible nor possible in a publication of this nature to outline in detail policies for each situation that might arise. The policies contained herein will give direction and orderliness to many of our student personnel practices.

Through its policies which affect students, the South-Western City Board of Education seeks to advance the following goals: enhance equal educational opportunities for all students; deal justly and constructively with all students in matters of discipline; help all students feel that they are valued as individual persons; ensure and promote attendance; ensure that the constitutional rights of all students as citizens in a democracy have practical meaning and application; develop in students a sense of personal responsibility for their actions; attend to matters of student safety, health and welfare.
