Whenever a student is found to be infested with head lice, s/he is to be sent home for treatment and not readmitted until the parent shows proof of treatment and the child is free of lice and nits.

The necessary treatment is contained in Form 8451 F2 which is to be sent to the parent along with Form 8451 F1.

The other students in the infested student's classroom should be examined for evidence of either the lice or lice eggs (nits). The examinations should be done by a person designated by the principal or school nurse.
