2120 - SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT

The Board of Education supports the concept of school improvement and will seek to create and/or maintain effective schools as defined in this and other policies.

In addition to adopting a Mission Statement and Educational Philosophy for the District, the Board shall create, as needed, policies which support the School Improvement Process.

The District Administrator shall establish administrative guidelines which will ensure that the following objectives for decentralized management and shared decision-making can be achieved:

 A.School improvement plans which are developed and implemented by school-based teams that work collaboratively so that District level goals for students can be identified and correlated, and then achieved through effective planning, problem-solving, and assessment. Each such team may include

  1.professional staff

  2.support staff

  3.parents

  4.representatives of the community

  5.students, when applicable

 B.Periodic review and approval by the District Administrator and the Board of the school's modification and improvement of its program based on the school's assessment of student accomplishment of performance objectives and program goals.

 C.Collaboration at the District levels with parents, relevant institutions and groups, especially those in the community, who can support and facilitate school improvement in the District.

The Board and District Administrator shall fully support, to the extent that resources allow, the school's educational improvement program.
