9120 - PUBLIC INFORMATION PROGRAM

The Board of Education believes that reasonable means should be employed to keep the public informed on matters of importance regarding district policies, finances, programs, personnel and operations. It is the purpose of this policy to provide the ways and means to accomplish this purpose.

A planned community relations program shall be implemented to encourage citizen participation in and support for the educational program. The community relations program shall give evidence of efforts to:

 A.Encourage citizen participation in school functions in accordance with the philosophy of education and educational goals

 B.Communicate educational program goals, strengths, and needs

 C.Provide information regarding school activities and student accomplishments

 D.Enlist community resources to support the educational program

 E.Utilize the services of volunteers who are assigned responsibilities consistent with their qualifications and experience and who are supervised by appropriate school personnel

 F.Beginning in 1990, annual reports will be required to contain information on the mandated Statewide Achievement and Ability Testing Program.
