2530 - RESOURCE MATERIALS

The Board of Education shall provide instructional and evaluative materials, within budgetary constraints, to implement the District and school educational goals and objectives and meet student needs.

Such materials shall include reference books, other supplementary titles, all audio-visual materials, maps, library books, and any other resource material.

The library strives for quality and a well-balanced collection of materials. The Superintendent or his/her designee shall establish a process for library selection that ensures input of students, community, and staff. Lost or damaged materials must be paid for or grades and report cards will be withheld.

Gifts

The libraries welcome all gifts. However, the right to decide whether or not the publication shall be included in a collection shall be the final responsibility of the schools.

Complaints

All complaints concerning the content of any material in the collections or in books used by individual teachers will be carefully considered and studied as specified in Policy 9130.

Professional Library

A professional library shall be maintained for the use of professional staff.
