8453.03 - HEPATITIS B VACCINATION PROGRAM
Employees who have been identified at risk for occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens may receive the vaccine starting with the 1994-1995 school year. Education regarding the risk of bloodborne pathogens will be provided all individuals on an annual basis by the employee's supervisor.
Procedure
A. All employees classified at risk for occupational exposure will be offered the vaccine after training is received and within ten (10) working days of their initial assignments.
| B. | All employees at risk for occupational exposure must sign the attached consent/waiver form whether or not they elect to receive the vaccine. The employee may also provide proof that they have immunity or that they previously received the vaccine. | ||
| C. | Current employees who wish to receive the vaccine may do so during clinics which will be set up with the health department. | ||
| D. | The Perry-Hocking ESC will be responsible for the cost of the vaccine and any related costs. | ||
| E. | After the initial vaccination, two (2) additional vaccinations are necessary at one (1) and six (6) month intervals. Follow up vaccinations will be given at scheduled clinics at the appropriate time intervals. |
The immunization information or waiver of immunizations will be maintained in the employee's file. Dates of immunizations and testing results will be in the record.
All employees at risk will be required to attend an annual inservice regarding bloodborne pathogens. This program will be developed by the supervisory staff, who will be responsible for scheduling these inservices and identifying those persons required to attend.
