9120 - PUBLIC INFORMATION PROGRAM

In fulfillment of the rationale for the creation of public governing bodies, the meetings and records of the Board of Education will be considered a matter of public information.

Educational matters will be discussed and decisions made at public meetings of the Board, except for such matters as are properly discussed in private executive sessions.

The official minutes of the Board, its written policies, and its financial records will be open for inspection in the office of the Treasurer during the hours the administration offices are open. However, no records pertaining to individual students or staff members will be released for inspection by the public or any unauthorized persons, either by the Treasurer, Superintendent, or other persons responsible for the custody of confidential files.

The Board supports the right of the people to know about the programs and services of their schools and will make every effort to disseminate information.

Each principal is authorized to use all means available to keep the school's community informed about the school's program and activities. However, the release of information of District-wide interest is to be coordinated by the Superintendent.
