1230 - SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS

Qualifications

 A.The Superintendent of the Ottawa-Glandorf Local School District shall have earned at least a master's degree from an approved institution, with a major in educational administration.

 B.S/He shall have had at least five (5) years of experience in teaching and in the administration of schools.

 C.S/He shall have established himself/herself as an educational leader in the profession.

 D.Valid Superintendent's license as prescribed by the State of Ohio.

Duties

 A.The Superintendent shall serve as the executive officer of the Board of Education, and shall be charged with the responsibility for implementing the policies of the Board. S/He shall prepare the agenda for each meeting, shall attend all meetings (with exception of vacation or illness), except when his/her contract is being considered, and participate in all deliberations of the Board when such deliberations do not involve his/her employment.

 B.S/He shall administer the schools in conformity with the adopted policies of the Board and its rules and regulations of the State Department of Education in accordance with the State Law.

 C.S/He shall develop administrative principles and procedures for implementing Board policies.

 D.S/He, with the staff, shall provide a continuous appraisal of all policies originating with the Board of Education.

 E.In cooperation with the County Superintendent, s/he shall recommend employees for appointment, demotion, assign instructional personnel, transfer, or dismissal in accordance with the policies of the Board.

 F.S/He shall assign non-instructional personnel.

 G.S/He shall prepare and submit to the Board of Education for approval the several courses of study and curriculums to be offered in the Schools of this District.

 H.S/He shall direct the formation of and the revision of salary schedules within the financial resources of the community and make recommendations to the Board.

 I.S/He shall have the responsibility for deciding whether school shall be in session when the weather is inclement.

 J.S/He shall perform such other duties as the Board may determine.
