5136.01 - USE OF RECORDING DEVICES IN CLASSROOMS
The North Olmsted Board of Education recognizes the need to protect a student’s right to privacy, to ensure student safety, and to prevent classroom disturbances. This Policy thus governs class recordings made for student use in all cases except when the recording is of student performances such as plays or concerts. This Policy does not apply to recordings of events or activities in any venue other than classes whether the class is meeting inside the school building or in another location inside or outside of the school.
Students must request permission of the teacher to record a class. Any type of recording whether it is video, audio, or other applicable format requires both the consent of the teacher and notification to all parties involved.
These terms are set forth to protect student and teacher privacy and to prevent classroom disruption. The Policy does not apply to Individual Education Plan (IEP) or 504 provisions.
