In order to retain well qualified substitutes for service in this District, the Board will offer competitive compensation.

Substitutes employed on a day-to-day basis shall be paid on a per diem basis at a rate set annually by the Board.

Substitutes assigned to the same teacher for more than twenty (20) days shall be compensated one and one-fourth (1¼) times the daily substitute rate.

Substitutes assigned to the same teacher for more than sixty (60) days will be compensated on the salary guide.

A substitute employed for more than sixty (60) days in one (1) specific position will be placed at the appropriate position on the salary schedule and will be eligible for fringe benefits and will thereafter be considered to be regularly employed.

Daily substitutes shall not earn sick leave nor be paid for days when students are not required to attend school.
