2431.01 - ATHLETIC BOARD OF CONTROL
PURPOSE:
The New Riegel Athletic Board of Control represents the New Riegel Local Board of Education in all matters pertaining to the operation of the interscholastic sports program.
MEMBERS:
The membership of the Board shall be comprised of:
| A. | The Athletic Director who shall serve as chairman of the Board of Control. | |
| B. | A representative of the New Riegel Board of Education. | |
| C. | One (1) coach from the boys' sports programs who is appointed by the Athletic Director. | |
| D. | One (1) coach from the girls' sports programs who is appointed by the Athletic Director. | |
| E. | A member of the high school faculty. This member may not be a coach or Athletic Director. | |
| F. | A member of the elementary faculty. This member may not be a coach or Athletic Director. |
ELECTION:
The Athletic Director is on the Board of Control by virtue of his/her position.
The Board of Education will appoint the member of the high school faculty and elementary faculty, and the Board of Education representative.
The Athletic Director will appoint the representatives from the coaching staffs.
VOTING:
The Board member's vote (one vote) should be representative of the feeling of the Board of Education.
The faculty members' votes (one vote for the high school and one vote for the elementary) should be representative of the feelings of the school's faculty.
The Athletic Director's vote should represent the best interest of the total athletic department.
Each coaching representative has a half-vote. Their vote should reflect the best interests of their respective programs.
TIE VOTES:
In case of a tie vote, the matter is referred to the local Superintendent of schools, who will in turn make a recommendation to the Board of Education for their consideration.
MEETINGS:
Meetings are held at the discretion of the chairman, or at the request of any two (2) members of the Athletic Board of Control. All meetings are open.
AUTHORITY:
The Athletic Board of Control is established by the Board of Education and is therefore subject to the supervision and control of the New Riegel Local Board of Education.
