4215 - USE OF TOBACCO BY SUPPORT STAFF
The Board of Education of the Nettle Creek School Corporation recognizes that smoking has been determined to be a health and safety hazard which can have serious consequences for the smoker and nonsmoker. In order to insure a safer environment for our students, staff, parents, and patrons, the School Board hereby
prohibits smoking by all staff, students, and visitors in all corporation buildings, school-related events, vehicles, and buses."Smoking" is interpreted as all uses of tobacco, including cigars, cigarettes, pipes, snuff, or any other matter or substances that contains tobacco.
It is specifically directed that the smoking ban will be in effect twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week, and will apply to anyone present in buildings or vehicles owned by the School Corporation. This smoking ban will also remain in effect on grounds during the regular school day. (7:30 A.M. - 3:30 P.M.)
During school-sponsored extra-curricular events open to the public and/or evening adult education classes, the administrator in charge is granted the authority to allow for a temporary exception to this policy by designating a smoking area outside a building or playing field area.
The enforcement of this policy is the responsibility of all users of school property.
