7460 - ENERGY CONSERVATION

The Board of Education is committed to conserving the District's resources. Declining levels of natural energy resources mandate that the District develop and implement plans to conserve all forms of energy used in the schools of this District. The need to participate in conserving the nation's energy resources and the economic reality of increased costs of utility services requires that the energy conservation program be supported by all the personnel and students of the School District.

The Board directs the Superintendent or his/her designee to develop and implement both immediate and long range plans for the District to conserve energy resources.

The Mount Clemens Community School District Board of Education is committed to maintaining a comfortable learning environment for students and staff. The District will endeavor at all times when the heating plant is operational, to maintain the average ambient air temperature during regular school hours, in a range of 68 to 70 degrees, within the school buildings operated by the District, when teachers and students are present, as determined by the temperature control devices controlled by the Building Maintenance Department. At all times when the cooling equipment is operational, and students and teachers are present, the average temperature during regular school hours, the District will endeavor to maintain temperatures in a range of 78 to 80 degrees, within the school buildings operated by the District.

Employees who tamper with the heating or cooling systems, or the temperature controls shall be subject to disciplinary or other administrative action.
