4141 - LAYOFFS OF EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT PERSONNEL

It is the responsibility of the School Board to provide the educational support personnel necessary for the operation of the District, consistent with the responsibility of the Board for the judicious allocation of its resources.

The Superintendent shall recommend to the Board the elimination/reduction of existing positions.

The Board reserves the right in accordance with statute to do away with any existing position in whole or in part or to reduce the number of educational support personnel in such positions based on the recommendation of the Superintendent.

If Decatur Township Schools has to reduce its work force, employees will be given notice as soon as possible.

In the event of RIF (Reduction In Force), evaluation score for employees for the current school year will be used to determine the order of layoff. Seniority will be considered as a tie breaker in the event staff members have the same evaluation score. Those persons who have special skills or abilities, or who are critical to on-going operations, may be retained, irrespective of length of service with the school district.
