The Board of Education recognizes that a primary goal of public education is to prepare students to actively participate in a democratic society, which involves functioning within the democratic process. Voting is a primary responsibility and opportunity of a citizen in a democratic society.

A student who is at least seventeen (17) years of age and who will be eighteen (18) years of age by the time of the next ensuing state or county general election may be permitted to register to vote.

An onsite voter registration at each high school shall be cooperatively scheduled each school year by the principal and the Office of the County Clerk. In an election year each student who is eligible by age shall be provided an opportunity to register to vote at least forty-five (45) days prior to the primary election.
