Morgan County Schools will provide all staff and students with a safe, secure environment where diversity is accepted and welcomed.


The Board, administration and staff will be responsible for the administration of this policy.

Morgan County Schools shall insure full compliance with regulations that define a safe, secure environment where diversity is accepted by:

 A.Following a zero-tolerance policy regarding racial, ethnic, cultural, religious, socio-economic level, gender stereotypes and resolving problems associated with racism and prejudice.

 B.Providing equal opportunities regardless of culture, race, gender, religion, ethnicity or socio-economic level.

 C.Educating the Morgan County School community with regard to the rationale, plan, policies, and procedures for implementing educational/diversity curriculum.

 D.Delivering an integrated curriculum through classroom instruction while developing knowledge and understanding about cultural diversity.

 E.Morgan County Schools shall undertake activities in its schools to promote appropriate awareness of cultural significance through recognition of anniversaries, accomplishments and events.

Each school will develop and implement a multicultural program in concert with a meaningful program of character education, to assure that all staff and students will be aware of diversity in ethnic background, gender, religion, disability and socio-economic status. Additionally, all staff and students will recognize and know what to do when faced with emotional, physical and verbal harassment/bullying.

Multicultural education is required to be taught to all students at all programmatic levels, pre-k-4, 5-8, and 9-12.
