6601 - DEPOSIT OF PUBLIC FUNDS

Public money will be deposited with the Treasurer or bank within twenty-four (24) hours following the day of receipt. If the amount of day’s receipts does not exceed $1,000, the receipts may be safeguarded in a safe or locked cabinet on the premises, and deposited within three (3) business days after receiving it.

There will be separation of duties for staff collecting and counting the money, and depositing the money.

Buildings are not authorized to use collected funds for any purpose other than for deposit.

All money will be recorded on a pre-numbered receipt and Daily Revenue Tally Sheet or DASL Report, and include sufficient detail to support the deposit and recording of funds.

Supporting documentation will be included with the pre-numbered receipt, DASL Report or "Revenue Tally Sheet" to provide the Treasurer’s office with enough detail about the origin and purpose of the deposit for the proper recording of funds.
