The School Board of Miami-Dade County
Bylaws & Policies
Unless a specific policy has been amended and the date the policy was revised is noted at the bottom of that policy, the Bylaws and Policies of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools were adopted on May 11, 2011 and were in effect beginning July 1, 2011.

Circumstances beyond the control of individuals and/or the District could prevent students in any grade from meeting the statutorily required number of days and/or hours of instruction. To the extent permitted by the Emergency Management Act and pursuant to an executive order issued by the Governor's office under the Act, the Superintendent shall determine whether or not such circumstances exist. The Superintendent's decision shall be final. Notwithstanding these circumstances, however, the District shall provide an instructional program that enables students to acquire the knowledge and skills in the curriculum.

If the Superintendent determines that such circumstances exist, students through grade eight shall be provided the opportunity to earn promotion to the next grade by demonstrating mastery of established performance standards for their grade level, and students in grades nine through twelve shall be provided the opportunity to earn credit for each course in which they are enrolled by demonstrating mastery of established performance standards.

The Superintendent shall establish the procedures necessary to implement this policy.
