Qualifications:

 A.State of Ohio School Treasurer's License.

 B.Shall meet requirements of Law and be governed by State law.

 C.Valid driver's license.

 D.Must pass criminal background check.

General Description:

Serves as chief financial officer of the School District, entrusted with the management of all funds; and serves as secretary to the Board of Education at all of its meetings.

Areas of Responsibility:

 A.Board Relations:

  1.Serves as chief fiscal officer and advisor to Board, keeping them informed of current financial status of the District.

  2.Serves as secretary to the Board and prepares clear and accurate minutes of all Board meetings.

  3.Assist in preparation and appropriate minutes recommendation of agenda items.

  4.Renders timely and accurate financial statements to Board.

  5.Provides the Board with multi-year, long-range projections of estimated receipts and operating costs of the District.

  6.Provides concise and meaningful financial and business operations data of specific areas of operations when requested.

  7.Recommends policy revisions pertaining to his/her area of responsibility.

  8.Works cooperatively with all Board members without regard to opinions/positions of individual Board members.

  9.Keeps the Board informed of new and potential litigation affecting finance and business operations.

  10.Keeps the Board appraised of necessary fiscal certifications and requirements.

 B.Accounting and Technical Skills:

  1.Maintains the School District's accounting records accurately, up-to-date, and in accordance with prescribed accounting requirements.

  2.Plans and manages an investment program to maximize interest income.

  3.Works cooperatively with Administration in preparation of the annual appropriation resolution and spending plan for the School District.

  4.Serves as a participating and contributing member of the District's management team.

  5.Prepares timely and accurate reports required by other governmental agencies.

  6.Prepares and manages the payroll system to insure employees are compensated in a timely and forthright manner.

  7.Coordinates data processing services for financial accounting.

  8.Establishes and maintains internal control systems and procedures to account for, safeguard, and disburse School District's cash assets, including student activity program funds in a proper manner.

 C.Community Relations:

  1.Maintains an open door policy for questions from members of the public, community organizations and employees.

  2.Is available as Board's representative at public meetings when needed or requested.

  3.Is available to assist and work with levy committees when needed or requested.

  4.Maintains good, professional working relationship with bankers, attorneys, public, and State officials.

Equipment Operated:

All types of office equipment/machines.

Physically Demanding and Hazardous Working Conditions Inherent in this Position:

Daily exposure to CRT screens.

Terms of Employment:

260 work days per year; January 1 through December 31.

Performance Evaluation:

Shall be evaluated according to Mechanicsburg Exempted Village Board Policy.
